Well, technically. For the few of you that might not know what's going on, Games for Windows is suppose to connect with people using and Xbox. This mean that you can play rank matches on Halo 2 on your 360 while your friend can kick your butt using his PC. The best part is this:

"You'll have a single gamertag you can use on either (or both)platforms, and your same friends list, achievements, and messages will all be available to you where you are. And even better, it won't cost any extra coinage - if you’re an Xbox LIVE gold member on Xbox, you’re automatically a Games for Windows – LIVE gold member. It's the same service. You just use your existing gamertag and go."

Halo 2 PC will be out soon and you'll be able to collect Achievements, see your friends, and create new Halo maps, the whole nine yards. Of course, only for the PC version.
The 1st game to REALLY use Games for Windows Live (GWL) will be Shadowrun, which is one of the many games I am truly exited about and can't wait to play it again. Yes...again, as I had the chance to mess around with a beta of it. People will be able to kick my butt using a controller or a keyboard/mouse combo. If you think getting "Pwnd" before hurt, I have the feeling that is going to hurt even more now.

One down side to this is they have yet to mention any type of security towards this. Games for Windows Live seems a good idea and I can't wait to be part of it (Especially since I can use my already paid XBL account), but at the same time, this opens yet another window for people to mod and cheat. Now they don't have to open their Xbox in order to mod, but simple have some program in the background making sure you get the most kills.

The other downside is that now you will have to pay 60 for an XBL game and/or another 60 or more for its PC version. I'm sure EA will have a party with this new addition since they will have PC only stuff and XBOX only stuff for you to unlock and have. It might become another way for companies to make our life miserable for the few that actually care about Achievement points and so on so forth. Let's hope that this only brings good things for us and not the worst in us.

Oh yea! And before I sign off...the 3rd game is Uno O_O. Why? Do people REALLY like to play virtual Uno? I mean, is fun and all, but even the card game after 5 rounds it get's old. Why not Settlers of Catan (Coming soon to an Xbox near you)? But no...We get...Uno *sigh*
What's next Microsoft? Barbie’s Horse Adventure?

Shadowrun Beta
Shadowrun Beta!!! Yeee!!
Hey forkie I got the following email yesterday!! Did you register back in December?? Here is the horrible thing for your reading pleasure.

Congratulations! You have been selected to participate in the Shadowrun beta program! The Beta build is now available for download on Marketplace.

Before you download, read the KNOWN ISSUES and HOW TO REPORT A BUG posts on the private beta forums here: http://forums.shadowrun.com/forums/23/ShowForum.aspx
You’ll be playing a pre-release version of the game. We’re still tweaking gameplay, game balance, art, and just about anything else you can think of. What you see in this beta should not be considered representative of final quality. There may be (get ready for it)… bugs! That’s why we need your help in this beta test.
We encourage you to discuss the game and provide feedback in the private Beta forums. If you have not already registered for the beta forums, please make sure you register with the same Windows Live ID you used to register on Connect. Posting information about the beta in the general forums (or anywhere else) OR discussing the game with non-participants is a violation of the NDA you accepted. Breaking the NDA will result in removal from the beta program as well as other repercussions. We take the NDA very seriously.
When you’re playing Shadowrun on Xbox Live, you will show to others as playing Shadowrun Beta. It’s ok for others to know you’re participating in the beta, but you can’t share any information other than “Yes, I’m playing in the beta.”
5. The initial beta invite list is small. While the beta will grow over time you may experience some initial difficulty finding other players for games. To help alleviate this we will be having scheduled play times. These can be found at http://forums.shadowrun.com/forums/thread/22699.aspx .

1. Open the Xbox 360 dashboard (you must be connected to Live and logged in with your Gold account)

2. Make sure you have more than 1gb of space on your 360’s hard drive.

a. Navigate to the system blade

b. Select memory

c. Highlight hard drive and check how much space it has free. If it has less than 1gb free:

i. Select the hard drive

ii. Select whichever area you want to delete items from

iii. Select the items to delete

iv. Press delete.

3. Navigate to the Xbox Live blade

4. Select “Xbox Live Marketplace”

5. Select “Redeem Code”

6. Enter the following token code: ***DELETED***

7. The dashboard will fill in the dashes for you.

8. Select Download Now

· If your download is interrupted, navigate to “Xbox Live Marketplace” on the Xbox Live blade, select “Account Management”, and then select download history. You can resume your download here.

To launch the beta go to the Games blade of the dashboard and select “Demos and more.” You should see “Shadowrun Beta” listed. Note that you must be signed into Xbox Live to launch the game.

To provide feedback, read the beta manual, report bugs and just hang out with fellow beta users sign into the Shadowrun forums at http://forums.shadowrun.com/forums/default.aspx .

If you are having trouble accessing the forums please mail gbetasup@microsoft.com. Be sure to include your gamertag and your forum account name in the body of the e-mail. Please note that it can take up to 48 hours after receiving this welcome mail before you will have access to the Shadowrun beta forums

If you have any questions or problems with the beta please email gbetasup@microsoft.com. However, between Dec 20 and Jan2 we may be a little slower than normal answering emails.

By accepting this token and downloading the beta software you agree to the following:

Re: Shadowrun Beta
I am so freaking Jelouse!!! I had the pleasure to play it for 2 days and I have to say...I miss it. Man! You have fun with it and make sure to send in all your complains, so when we buy it, we dont have to deal with the crap. One of the creating team members is a friend of V (xxNibblerxx) which is how I got to mess with it ;). Now, if I could become best friends with him and get a beta thingy!!! *pouts*
